Origami Owl® Party Formats

When you think direct sales and parties what do you think of? Women at home parties. At least that's what I had always known direct sales to be, but with the growth of online platforms, all that is changing. Maybe you have participated in a catalog party before as well, but did you know that in direct sales you are not limited to just hosting home events and catalog parties anymore? Thanks to social media, Origami Owl® Designers have even more options to offer then you may think!

There are 4 different options you can offer your Hostess for a Jewelry Bar®:

1. In-Home Jewelry Bar®

  • Traditional Party Format. Guests meet up at the Hostesses home or desired meeting place.
    • PRO: Allows for the most Designer/Customer/Hostess interaction.
    • PRO: Guests are able to try on and see the product in person. They create a deeper connection with the Jewelry.
    • CON: Scheduling Conflicts, No Shows, Risk of Cancellation
    • CON: Requires Hostess to prepare home - cook/clean for guests.

2. Scheduled Virtual Online Event

  • These are events held on Facebook for approx. 90 minutes. Guests log on to a private event page where the Designer will show ideas, play games, and answer any questions. Designer/Hostess can keep contact via phone or private messaging during the event.
    • PRO: Designer is able to get good engagement with Customers/Hostess.
    • PRO: Convenient for Guests and Hostess. No cooking, cleaning, travel, etc.
    • PRO: Able to invite and interact with guests from any region in country who would not be able to attend an in-home event due to proximity to Hostess.
    • CON: Distractions - kid's running around, TV in background.
    • CON: High Preparation from Designer - Images/Games/Content.
    • CON: Often requires Hostess follow up to close sales.
    • CON: Must require guests to have Facebook and be comfortable/tech-savvy with doing so.

3. Open Online Event

  • Similar to a Scheduled Online event, but takes place over several days rather than 1-2 Hours. Designer posts ideas/games over a longer period of time, and guests place their order online.
    • PRO: Designer can still interact with Guests. (answer questions, provide ideas)
    • PRO: Convenience/Ease of Ordering. Guests are not required to be online/in-home at a specified time and can shop at their own convenience.
    • CON: Lower Interaction/Engagement. Requires strong Hostess Engagement.
    • CON: Lower party retail sales average. Requires strong Hostess follow up to close orders.

4. Catalog/"Take-Out" Party

  • Designer provides Hostess with Catalogs/Order forms to use to show and secure orders. Email invites can also be sent to an online ordering website for those wishing to place their order online. Designer's also have the option to provide the Hostess with a sample locket/display items to show.
    • PRO: Convenient for Designer. Can keep multiple parties open at a time.
    • CON: No interaction between Designer/Guests. Success of party and securing orders relies entirely on Hostess.
    • CON: Lower sales average.

If you are a current Designer or thinking about Hosting a party, pick an option that works for you! Try combining them as well. Just because you are hosting an online event, does not mean a Hostess can't take a catalog around at work and gather more orders to those who were unable to attend. Be creative! The sky is the limit and the more you branch out to a combination of these ideas, the more those Hostess Rewards will grow!
